Set in the 30th century of a parallel future, the story follows modern-day high school girl Yamamoto Yoko and her friends as they become pilots for TERRA's space battleships, playing an active role in the endless, casualty-free war between humanity's two major galactic powers: TERRA and NESS. The modern-day setting is in Adachi Ward, Ayase. Scattered throughout the cosmos are relics left by the super-ancient interstellar race known as the "Oldtimers," whose technology far surpasses even that of 30th-century human civilization. The struggle to seize these relics also forms a central axis of the narrative.
