An animated short before Ice Age 4 Nominated for the 2013 Oscar for Best Animated Short In the early morning, Maggie is sent to daycare, where she is greeted by a series of high-tech devices. First, there are multiple layers of security checks, followed by a brand-new "child classification" machine that can screen children's IQ. Unfortunately, Maggie is placed in the "ordinary zone," separated from many children with scientific or artistic talents, and can only face a pile of old toys in a shabby room. In the ordinary zone, there is a particularly vicious boy who smashes any flying butterfly he sees with a hammer. However, Maggie happens to love butterflies dearly. After reading about the process of a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly inside a cocoon in a book, she begins to protect a nearly mature cocoon. Pursued relentlessly by the boy, Maggie engages in a battle of wits and courage with him until the end of the day, when Marge comes to pick her up—just as the butterfly emerges from its cocoon...
