As spring departs and autumn arrives, the northern wild geese fly south, leaving a desolate and bleak scene all around. On this rather chilly morning, Jerry's good friend, the little duckling, packs his bags, knocks on his friend's door, and bids farewell to Jerry. He says he must follow his fellow wild ducks to the south for the winter. The rational Jerry reminds him, "You're just a domestic duck—you can't fly." But the little duckling believes the explanations in books are all nonsense. Regardless, the little duckling resolutely sets off. He passes through the fence, swims across the creek, and trudges into the wilderness. Not only does he fail to fly, but he ends up panting and exhausted. This time, he uses a slingshot to launch himself into the air, only to accidentally shoot right into Tom's mouth.
Faced with such a tempting little morsel before him, the hungry Tom naturally won't let it go easily. While the little duckling is still trying every possible way to fly, Tom has already sharpened his knives, his eyes gleaming with malice...
