However, even in such turbulent times, there were still those who strived to open their eyes to the world and showcase the nation's proud culture in all its splendor. In 1851, the first World Expo was held in London, England, where Chinese merchant Xu Rongcun won gold and silver medals with his "Rongji Hu Silk." A century later, Xu Rongcun's descendant, Hu Sizai, showed disdain for the silk craftsmanship passed down through his family. Obsessed with modern technology, he dreamed of creating advanced robots but lacked any sense of teamwork.
