The screen is evenly divided into three parts from left to right. On the left, an obese man with a penis-shaped head lies in bed, sleeping soundly, completely indifferent to the ever-changing world outside. In the middle, a small bird soars through the sky, enduring wind and rain, while the world around it undergoes dramatic transformations—for the bird, survival is the foremost concern. On the right, a ship sails across the boundless sea, with the ocean’s surface rising and falling. Noah’s Ark passes by, and the animals aboard gaze at this unmoving ship as if observing a rare spectacle, while the men and women on the ship continue their predetermined, mundane lives. The three scenes influence and constrain one another, seemingly parallel yet intersecting at times...
This film won the Silver Bear for Best Short Film Director at the 1981 Berlin International Film Festival.
