Legend has it that the ancestor of pandas—the Panda Hero—possessed extraordinary skills, fought against the strong and aided the weak, earning the panda clan a revered status. He led his people to seclude themselves in a hidden bamboo forest and, before passing away, exhausted his efforts to set up the invincible Eight-Trigram Panda Formation to defend against external threats. Hapi, one of many pandas, loves three things most in life—eating, clowning around, and pretending to be a hero! His greatest dream is to become the Panda Hero he admires most. However, facing ridicule from other panda friends, the growing strength of the female panda Xixi, and the favoritism of the clan’s elder guardian, Hapi’s "heroic dream" shatters. In a fit of anger, he steals a secret manual and runs into the forest, parading around in the name of the Panda Hero, and actually becomes an idol in the eyes of animals like the "Chaos Crew." Overconfident, Hapi fails to realize that danger is slowly approaching. The forest’s top "flatterer," the red fox, covets pandas as the "Tang Monk’s meat of the animal world" and persuades the forest king, the snow leopard, to hunt pandas. The simple-minded but physically powerful snow leopard repeatedly attacks Hapi and even breaks the "Eight-Trigram Panda Formation" to invade the hidden bamboo forest. As the panda clan faces imminent disaster, Hapi decides to strive hard, become a true Panda Hero, save his people, and fulfill the great mission of restoring the panda clan...
