To create a new world of her own, the evil Snow Queen seeks to freeze the hearts of humanity with a frigid blizzard and eliminate all artists and their children, for artworks have the power to warm the world and break her icy magic. Gradually, the world's sorcerers unite to resist the Snow Queen, but she is too powerful—she destroys nearly all of them. When she kills the last pair of sorcerers, the Vegard couple, they desperately protect their children in their final moments: the older sister Gerda (voiced by Liu Chunyan) and the younger brother Kai (voiced by Huo Zun). However, the siblings are separated in the blizzard. Thirteen years later, the Snow Queen discovers that Gerda and Kai, who carry the blood of sorcerers, are still alive and fears they may threaten her reign. She sends the beast Orm (voiced by Jin Wei) to find them. Orm locates the boy Kai and captures him, taking him back to the palace. To rescue Kai, Gerda endures countless hardships along her journey, receiving help from many kind souls she meets. Ultimately, she moves Orm to her side, defeats the Snow Queen, saves Kai, and restores warmth to the world. The film is adapted from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Snow Queen."
