This work aired on TV Asahi from September 2, 1980, to September 28, 1982. It consists of 94 episodes and 188 segments (each segment is 15 minutes long, with two segments per episode). It is the second installment of the Fujiko anime series by Shin-Ei Animation. Apart from the absence of Yodogawa's narration, it follows the original work and the content of the black-and-white version. Midway through the broadcast, some changes were made to the character designs. Originally, Fuyumi Shiraishi voiced Monster Taro in the black-and-white version, and the author hoped she would reprise her role in the remake. However, due to differences in the broadcasting station, production company, and sponsors, the role was ultimately voiced by Masako Nozawa. Additionally, after the sudden passing of Tarō Sagami, who voiced Frankenstein, the role was taken over by Shingo Kanemoto, who had also voiced the Werewolf in the black-and-white version. Among the cast, only Eiko Masuyama continued to voice Kaibutsu-ko from the black-and-white version to the color version.
