The protagonist of the film is the innocent yet stubborn 7-year-old girl Laura, whose family has just moved from the countryside to the city because her mother was invited to work as a cellist at a theater. Laura’s father takes care of household chores while working from home. Laura’s little brother, Tommy, is curious and reckless; his mischievous antics can sometimes be quite irritating, making him a typical troublemaker. Laura made a list for her parents, detailing everything she misses from the countryside: the lush apple tree, the small spot on the hilltop where she left her footprints every day, as well as her swing, the meadow, and the wildflowers... Suddenly, Laura sees Tommy’s toy lying on the ground downstairs and figures the careless boy must have forgotten it again. She rushes down the stairs to retrieve the toy but collides with the neighbor boy, Max, on the way. With a scraped shin, she has to return home for her father to bandage it. This first day in the new home not only brings many nostalgic memories but also leaves a mark on Laura’s body. Meanwhile, Max ties Tommy’s lost toy to his model airplane and launches it, making it land steadily on Laura’s rooftop terrace. Max carefully hides in the distance, afraid Laura might not discover this "secret." Night falls quickly, and Laura tosses and turns in bed, unable to sleep. She takes her teddy bear and bunny toy to the rooftop to gaze at the stars. When she returns to bed and tries to fall asleep again, she senses something is off. She spots a strange little thing climbing up the window before disappearing onto the roof. Laura follows it outside. This machine-cat-like creature makes amusing sounds as it scurries around the rooftop. Laura notices the night sky looks different—the stars are unusually bright and seem to twinkle. She rubs her eyes, unable to believe the "dream" before her. Suddenly, a small star surrounded by a halo plummets toward the ground, heading straight for Laura. The star lands in the grass of the garden. Laura, who has followed it, discovers the star is missing one of its legs. She carefully picks it up and comforts it, feeling that she and the star share a similar plight—both suddenly thrust into an unfamiliar world and feeling deeply lonely. Laura takes the star home, thrilled to have a star of her own, and decides not to tell anyone about this secret. She finds the star’s broken leg and reattaches it with plaster. Overjoyed, the star begins to fly, scattering its stardust. A miracle happens: the teddy bear and bunny toy tucked under the blanket start to move—they have been brought to life. Laura worries the star might become homesick like her, but the star quickly dispels her concerns. Laura realizes her mother has left for a performance but forgotten her bow. She grabs the bow and rushes toward the theater. Unfamiliar with the surroundings, Laura gets lost along the way. Fortunately, the star arrives just in time, and something unexpected happens—Laura’s star can truly fly. It carries Laura on its back and soars toward the theater. The theater where Laura’s mother works is an imposing, magnificent building. The star safely lands with Laura on the theater’s roof. Max, who has been following them all along, can hardly believe his eyes—he has just witnessed the star carrying Laura through the air before vanishing above the theater. While her mother is on a phone call, Laura quietly returns the bow to the cello case and then carefully rejoins the star. Laura’s mother is overjoyed to find the bow she thought she had lost, especially since this is her debut performance at this theater. However, Laura now faces a difficult decision: having grown inseparable from the star, will she let it leave her and return to its home in the sky?
