The pet rat Splinter, which Hamato Yoshi had narrowly escaped with, accidentally came into contact with a mutagenic liquid created by the Utroms along with four other turtles in the sewers of New York. They mutated into humanoid creatures, giving birth to a new generation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Splinter began training the turtles in the ninja skills and knowledge left behind by Hamato Yoshi, hoping to one day avenge his master. One day in 2003, the now-grown and emerging Ninja Turtles finally encountered their archenemy, Shredder, who attempted to recruit Leonardo, one of the turtles, to serve him but was met with resounding failure. Revealing his evil nature, the Utrom Shredder engaged the turtles in their first battle, ultimately being repelled with the help of Splinter's intervention. Some time later, Shredder sought revenge and severely wounded Leonardo. With the help of friends, they escaped and recuperated. After recovering, the turtles returned to New York for a second confrontation with Shredder. In the end, Shredder was beheaded by Leonardo with the Tengu Sword, but they knew it was only his robotic shell. The cost for the turtles was the loss of their father: Splinter went missing... In search of their missing father, the turtles encountered the exiled Utrom clan and learned of their history. But just then, Shredder reappeared. After a fierce battle, Shredder revealed his true form. Witnessing the Utrom clan escape Earth through a portal, Shredder's thousand-year revenge plan was ruined. Enraged, he sought to perish together with the turtles. Ultimately, the turtles escaped through the portal, while Shredder vanished amidst a massive explosion...
