This short film premiered on June 18, 2010, before the screening of "Toy Story 3."
The first rays of morning sunlight shine upon the lush green grassland. A rooster crows toward the sun, and the sounds of livestock rise and fall across the farm. As the camera pulls back, we see that this brilliant, luminous three-dimensional world is actually contained within a two-dimensional sprite. He seems to be the Spirit of Day, merging seamlessly with the daytime. With light steps, the Spirit of Day wanders around and suddenly spots a soundly sleeping figure. That is also a two-dimensional sprite, within whose body lies a tranquil three-dimensional world of night, where little lambs are leaping over a fence one by one. Clearly, this is the Spirit of Night, who is unfortunately awakened by the curious Spirit of Day. The two little beings chase each other, each convinced of their own superiority, competing and refusing to back down. But through a series of contests, they also seem to discover each other's strengths and the common ground they share...
This film won the 2011 Annie Award for Best Animated Short Subject and the 2011 Visual Effects Society Award for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Broadcast Program or Commercial.
