The anime tells the fantastical adventure story of an ordinary elementary school student, Li Xiaoyu, who accidentally enters the hidden world of mythical beasts within the Forbidden City after picking up a pair of Dongguang Gem earrings, becoming the new owner of the gems. In order to quickly unravel the mystery of the previous gem owner's disappearance and to cure the old ailment of her mythical beast friend, Wen Shou, the averagely talented Li Xiaoyu decides to start from scratch and learn to master the power of the Four Symbols. With the help of the young fairy-tongued speaker, Yang Yongle, and the mythical beasts, Li Xiaoyu undergoes various trials and finally comprehends the essence of the Four Symbols' power. Later, guided by Wen Shou, Xiaoyu also realizes that her strength does not come from the outside world but from within. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure suddenly appears in the Forbidden City, secretly causing many troubles for Xiaoyu and Yang Yongle. Through several investigations, the two face even greater challenges as they gradually approach the truth. What is the true purpose of the mysterious figure?
