On the night of the millennium comet, wishes will come true... Aspiring to become outstanding Pokémon Trainers, Satoshi, Haruka, and Masato set off on a new journey with Pikachu. To witness the moment the millennium comet appears, they arrive at the Fanns Amusement Park and meet the magicians Butler and Diane. During a magic show, Masato hears a faint, calling voice... It is Jirachi, a mythical Pokémon that has slept for a thousand years within the "Slumbering Cocoon" and can help humans fulfill their wishes. On the night the millennium comet appears, it will awaken if it meets a partner with a pure heart. To awaken Jirachi, Butler asks Masato to become its partner. Sure enough, Jirachi awakens from a kaleidoscope of light. Although Jirachi can only stay for a brief seven days before disappearing again, Masato, who has his own Pokémon for the first time, dotes on Jirachi immensely. The ambitious magician Butler, knowing of Jirachi's mystical powers, snatches it away, intending to use it to fulfill his own wish. What is the ill-intentioned Butler's wish?
