On a sunny day, Tom (voiced by William Hanna), carrying a love letter filled with deep affection and a carefully prepared gift, heads to the apartment of his girlfriend—the little female cat Toots (voiced by Sara Berner). He dresses up meticulously, trying to appear like a gentleman with elegant and proper manners. After Toots opens the door, Tom sings and dances, doing everything he can to flatter her, but in the end, he only makes a fool of himself and suffers Toots' merciless humiliation. After being shut out by Toots, Tom happens to hear a radio drama about a zoot suit—a suit that seems to make any woman fall in love with the wearer. Upon hearing this story, Tom feels as though he has found the perfect solution to love. He takes out a pair of scissors and transforms an orange-and-blue striped rocking bed in the yard into an exaggerated zoot suit. This transformation indeed wins Toots' heart...
