In the yard, atop a tall and sturdy tree, Mother Woodpecker knits a sweater, her heart filled with anticipation for the arrival of new life. It’s already lunchtime, so she leaves a note and goes out alone to search for food, leaving her egg alone in the nest. However, the little one inside the egg seems naturally restless. Taking advantage of its mother’s absence, it starts moving and accidentally falls out. Fortunately, spiderwebs, flowers, and leaves cushion its fall, allowing it to roll safely to the ground, where it stumbles into the home of the little mouse Jerry. The unexpected arrival surprises Jerry greatly, and the newly hatched baby woodpecker insists on recognizing Jerry as its biological mother, which troubles the little mouse even more. Driven by instinct, the baby woodpecker destroys much of Jerry’s furniture. Jerry tries to return it to the nest, but the stubborn little one follows him back. Constantly rejected and shut out, the baby woodpecker grows disheartened and ends up unintentionally provoking Tom…
