Ryan Larkin is a renowned Canadian animator, whose works "Afternoon of a Faun," "Walking," and "Street Musique" still hold significant places in the history of animation. However, at the peak of his career, Ryan faced various blows from life and within himself. On one hand, he no longer wished to be constrained by critics; on the other, he felt his inspiration drying up. The once-great master fell into destitution, becoming a beggar relying on handouts. Fellow filmmaker Chris Landreth happened to meet Ryan, and their similar circumstances inspired Chris to make an animated documentary about him, hoping to encourage the fallen master to make a comeback. This film won the 2005 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film; the 2004 Cannes Film Festival Kodak Short Film Award and Young Critics' Best Short Film Award; the 2004 Ottawa International Animation Festival Grand Prize; and the 2004 Palm Springs International Short Film Festival Jury Prize for Best Animated Short.
