Deep in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, explorer scientists Tulio (voiced by Rodrigo Santoro) and Linda (voiced by Leslie Mann) discover the nearly extinct wild Blue Spix's macaw. The couple announces this astonishing news to the world via television. Upon seeing this, Jewel (voiced by Anne Hathaway) persuades her husband Blu (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg) to take their three mischievous, adorable, and human-civilization-accustomed macaw babies back to their species' ancestral home of thousands of years to find their own kind. The macaw family sets off immediately, embarking on a thrilling and fun-filled aerial journey with their good friends. Meanwhile, an illegal logging group sees the news and quietly takes action to prevent Tulio and Linda from obstructing their crimes.
