A sequel produced the year after "Aim for the Ace! 2". This work shines a spotlight on many characters from Hiromi's previous generation, such as Tōdō and Madame Kochō, who are in the twilight of their playing careers, and depicts their struggles as well as Hiromi's own inner conflicts. While the previous work, "Aim for the Ace! 2", animated up to the middle part of the original manga's second story arc, this installment departs from the source material, presenting a story that is almost entirely anime-original.
