"The AURORA: Sea Aurora" (The Aurora: Umi no Aurora) is a CG animated film produced by Nippon Television, released on August 5, 2000. Promoted as "Japan's first full-CG 35mm film," it gained attention for featuring the first voice acting collaboration by father-son duo Junichi Ishida and Issei Ishida. 2033. At a depth of 4,200 meters in the sea near Minamitorishima, drilling operations for a new energy resource were underway. However, armed biologist Wang Chunlu and a boy named Nora infiltrated the base, attempting to halt the project. According to Chunlu, continuing the drilling would awaken ancient bacteria trapped in the mantle, disrupting the ecosystem. Yet, blinded by wealth and fame, Enclis insisted on proceeding, ultimately reviving the bacteria. The primordial bacteria flowing from the mantle were as beautiful as an aurora, but they harbored a terrifying power to dissolve metal. Moreover, they proceeded to destroy the support ship "Haruyama" and the rescue submarines one after another. The drilling team lost their escape route, trapped at the bottom of the sea. Faced with this crisis, Hiroshi, a member of the team, collaborated with Chunlu—who was actually a clone of Wang Yulong, a leading expert in primordial bacteria research nicknamed the "Dictator of Scientists"—to execute a plan to put the bacteria into dormancy using liquid nitrogen and prevent their ascent. Amidst many casualties, Hiroshi, Chunlu, and Nora succeeded in putting the bacteria to sleep. Afterwards, the three safely returned to the surface using an underwater robot.
