Based on the picture book series "Little Polar Bear Lars" (published by NordSud Japan) by Hans de Beer. Lars, a little polar bear living in the Arctic, one day finds himself drifting away on an ice floe. The land he finally reaches turns out to be none other than Africa. This is a 30-minute work that received a theatrical release through the Toho chain. Production was handled by Animate Film, with actual animation production by Production I.G (at the time, I.G Tatsunoko). Masaya Sadamitsu, who has deep ties with Production I.G, served in the triple role of storyboard artist, episode director, and director.
