Broadcast every Saturday from 1976 to 1981, this was a children's fairy tale program featuring shadow puppetry by the theatrical troupe Kage-sha. A total of 143 episodes across three series were aired: "Shadow Picture Folktales" (1976–1979), "Shadow Picture Aesop's Fables" (1978), and "Shadow Picture Grimm's Fairy Tales" (1980–1981). Between "Aesop" and "Grimm," the French-Polish co-produced puppet animation "Coral's Expedition" was broadcast. The sponsors were Chiyoda Life Insurance (predecessor of the present Gibraltar Life Insurance) and Chiyoda Fire & Marine Insurance (predecessor of the present Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance).
