A theatrical version (original feature-length edition) was produced in 1982. However, even after completion, due to circumstances of the production company Gakken, it was only released on video software and DVD for a long time without a theatrical release (details below). The theme song (Beautiful Melody) and insert songs were original compositions for the theatrical version. It was broadcast on NHK BS Premium on December 27, 2011. In January 2015, over 30 years after its production, its first theatrical screening was realized (from January 31 to February 6 at Shibuya Uplink).
