To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the birth of the national manga artist Fujio Akatsuka, the classic gag manga "Genius Bakabon" will be produced as a feature-length animated film for the first time. Titled "Genius Bakavon: The Dog of Flanders Revived," it has been decided that the film will be released nationwide during the spring break of 2015. The director, screenwriter, and voice actor is FROGMAN, a video creator known for the "Eagle Talon" series. He has successfully brought together two groups that should never have met: the Bakabon family and the protagonist of "The Dog of Flanders," Nero and his beloved dog Patrasche, which aired as the first installment of the "World Masterpiece Theater" series and gained immense popularity. The story begins with the final scene of "The Dog of Flanders," which moved all of Japan. However, in this setting, Nero and Patrasche break free from the hands of the angels and are revived in the modern era as minions of evil. They become vengeful demons seeking retribution against the humans who once oppressed them, and while committing misdeeds, they encounter the Bakabon family. The film focuses on the terrifying appearance of Nero and Patrasche, which could never be seen in the original work, and the unchanging foolishness of the Bakabon family, while also featuring many of the iconic characters from "Genius Bakabon." Through the Bakabon family, FROGMAN questions the importance of compassion and what true wisdom means as a human being. Furthermore, with the phrase "This is fine!" he sharply satirizes modern society while depicting a contemporary version of "Bakabon" that everyone can enjoy. "Genius Bakavon: The Dog of Flanders Revived" will be released nationwide during the spring break of 2015.
