MARIONETTE PV

An animated music video was produced. The production was handled by Gainax (directed by Hiroyuki Kitakubo). The structure consists of animated skits interspersed with monochrome footage of the band members performing. The story of the animation is set in a near-future world, where the protagonist, who is on the run after escaping, gets captured by a mysterious organization, only to discover that upon removing the leader's mask, the leader is himself. The main staff include director Hiroyuki Kitakubo and animation director Mahiro Maeda, but the anime staff at the time were not credited; only a few unrelated individuals involved were listed in the video, which was criticized by company colleague Toshio Okada in his writings. Additionally, a making-of version of the music video was produced, which Koizumi described as a "last resort" taken because the animation production took too long, delaying the completion of the main video and risking missing the promotional deadline. At the time of release, it is said that within Tokyo's jukeboxes, this work was requested every five minutes.
