全金属狂潮 Boy Meets Girl

The first part of a director's cut trilogy that re-edits the popular light novel by Shoji Gatoh into a three-part theatrical anime, "Full Metal Panic! Boy Meets Girl." This sci-fi military action series depicts the battles and daily life woven together by high school girl Chidori Kaname, who possesses a special ability known as a "Whispered," and her bodyguard soldier, Sagara Sousuke. The TV series' first season, which aired for 24 episodes on WOWOW starting in January 2002, was re-edited into a theatrical anime by director Koichi Chigira himself, who oversaw the entire process including editing and sound, while also adding retakes, new cuts, and a new theme song. The aspect ratio was changed from the original TV broadcast's 4:3 to 16:9, and the visuals were upconverted while the audio—originally in 2ch stereo—was remastered into simulated 5.1ch, adapting this TV anime produced approximately 16 years ago for screening on modern theatrical screens.
