This film was produced to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Kenji Miyazawa's birth. Kenji left behind many works, such as "The Biography of Gusukobudori," "Night on the Galactic Railroad," and "Matasaburo the Wind Imp." In Kenji's works, a recurring theme is the profound thoughts and wishes regarding the unity of nature, plants, animals, and humans, as well as their interactions with human society. Kenji may have intended this work as a critique of hunting—the taking of life—and as a message directed at the culinary culture of urbanites.
