A theatrical pre-screening version of the original anime "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress," which aired on Fuji TV's popular "noitaminA" programming block. Preceding its television broadcast starting in April 2016, it received a limited one-week theatrical run. Set in the island nation of Hinomoto, where steam technology has flourished and humanity battles the living corpses with steel hearts known as "Kabane," the story follows the youths who board the armored steam locomotive "Kotetsujo" to confront the Kabane. Directed by Tetsuro Araki of "Attack on Titan" and "Guilty Crown," with series composition by Ichiro Okouchi of the "Code Geass" series. Character designs are by veteran Haruhiko Mikimoto, known for "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross," and music is by Hiroyuki Sawano, responsible for numerous hits including "Attack on Titan" and "Mobile Suit Gundam UC." Animation production is handled by WIT STUDIO, the studio behind "Attack on Titan."
