Living in a boarding house on top of a mountain are twelve bear cubs. The first eleven are all boys. The very last one, the twelfth and only girl, is the protagonist of this story, "Jackie." Mischievous and full of curiosity, Jackie spends her happy days surrounded by her kind older brothers. One day, while traveling with her brothers, Jackie meets a girl bear named "Katie" in the grasslands. The two become fast friends, but the frail Katie falls ill. To help Katie regain her health, Jackie and her brothers embark on a great adventure.
