An anime adaptation of Aesop's (Isopo) "Aesop's Fables." The story follows the boy Isopo as he befriends the flower fairy Pitch, the country mouse Chuchu, and the donkey Barro, embarking on adventures in a world where animals can speak human language. It incorporates eight episodes from "Aesop's Fables." While the actual Aesop was a figure from ancient Greece, Isopo in this work is depicted as a boy living in a medieval European-style countryside. Isopo's voice was provided by Chika Takami.
Six months after its release, starting in October 1983, a television anime of the same title, "Manga Aesop Monogatari," aired on TV Tokyo and its affiliate stations. However, this version was produced by Nippon Animation and features entirely different content.
