Produced by Toei Animation (then Toei Doga) as a commissioned PR feature film to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. Under the original story and overall concept by master Leiji Matsumoto, this space-themed tale revolves around electricity.
In the not-so-distant future, Japan's advanced technological prowess has led to the creation of an artificial satellite called St. Elmo inside Mercury's orbit. St. Elmo is a space-based power plant that operates on solar energy. However, an anomaly occurs at St. Elmo. Upon learning of this, Yuki and six other boys and girls set out to investigate.
As mentioned earlier, this work was initially distributed as a PR film, but in November 1987, it was also released as an OVA, making it easily accessible to the general public. Directed by Toei Doga's renowned director, Tomoharu Katsumata, with animation direction by animator Yasuhiro Yamaguchi.
