Most of the content is a reconstruction of the first season's older episodes. From April 2012, the show was renewed and returned to the title "Tottoko Hamtaro" (2012 version) as its fifth season. Throughout April, with the exception of "Haaai!", new episodes aired for the first time in about six years. After that, similar to the fourth season, reruns were broadcast (while the fourth season mainly featured early stories, the fifth season reran mid-to-late first season episodes). The episode count was reset, and before each opening, the Hamtaro Cheer Squad "Ham-san-chū" (Mori Sanchū) appeared. The ending theme was revived, primarily featuring arrangements of past ending theme songs.
