东京艺术大学大学院影像研究科动画专业 第二期生修了作品集2011

Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Film and New Media, Animation Department. We are releasing a DVD containing 11 graduation works by the second-year students and 11 first-year works. The 11 graduation works, each carrying condensed time that cannot be fully grasped from their titles alone, employ a wide range of techniques—from drawing and puppetry to computer graphics and experimental approaches—and explore diverse themes. The enhanced audio, made possible through collaboration with the Department of Musical Creativity and the Environment at our university’s Faculty of Music, adds depth to the visual worlds. Furthermore, by tracing all the works included—including the first-year pieces by the graduating students—one can witness the individual growth of each student and the current state of “animation” as short films. From another perspective, it also allows one to sense the two-year journey of the Animation Department itself. Through 11 young and unfinished yet highly original perspectives, these short works represent the students’ two-year exploration of “dialogue with animation expression.” As the fruits of their labor, these pieces liberate us from the familiar image of “animation” and hint at a freer, broader stage of “ANIMATION” expression. Following the first-year students who won the Best School Award at two of the four major international animation film festivals—Zagreb and Ottawa—in 2010, we invite you to experience the works of our Animation Department, which has been gaining remarkable recognition both domestically and internationally even while still in school.
