Long ago in Kansas, Dorothy Gale decided to return to help her friends in Oz. "Dorothy" is an upcoming computer-animated film based on the book of the same name by Roger Stanton Baum, set in the world of Oz. It is being produced by Summer Entertainment, the family entertainment division of Alpine Pictures. Dorothy Gale (voiced by Lea Michele) returns to Kansas only to find it destroyed. Dorothy then finds a new way back to Oz, only to discover that her old friends—the Scarecrow (voiced by Dan Aykroyd), the Tin Man (voiced by Kelsey Grammer), the Cowardly Lion (voiced by James Belushi)—and the entire land of Oz are in grave danger. On Dorothy’s new journey through Oz, she meets characters she never expected: a man who thinks he’s Hugh Jackman (voiced by Hugh Dancy), a delicate Chinese doll princess hiding her fragility (voiced by Megan Hilty), a bossy marshmallow, and a tugboat with as much personality as he has parts (voiced by Patrick Stewart). With the help of her new friends, they unite to confront the evil Jester (voiced by Martin Short), who seeks to take control of Oz.
