In 2004, Harmony Gold announced plans for a sequel tentatively titled "Robotech: Shadow Force." This animated film was intended as a commemorative work for the 20th anniversary of Robotech in 2005. By 2006, the final version, titled "Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles," was completed and won the Best Animated Sci-Fi Feature award at that year's American International Sci-Fi & Horror Film Festival. The Expeditionary Force encountered a segment of the Invid forces and became embroiled in intense combat. Ultimately, they achieved a hard-fought victory alongside The Sentinels—an alien military organization resisting the Invid—while also quelling internal conflicts that had arisen within the Expeditionary Force. Meanwhile, Earth had been occupied by another faction of the Invid led by the Regess, who rediscovered the long-lost Flower of Life on the planet. After two consecutive failed "Earth Recapture Operations," the Expeditionary Force planned to deploy its main forces for a return campaign. At this moment, an unexpected threat was already lurking in the shadows, waiting for its opportunity...
