As usual, Tom and Jerry are engaged in a chase inside the big house. Just then, there is a knock at the door, and a letter is slipped through the gap. Tom opens it to find it's from his cousin, George. George is a timid and anxious cat, especially afraid of mice. He is about to visit his cousin, and his only hope is that Tom can prepare in advance to ensure there are no mice in the room. After reading the letter, Tom quickly traps Jerry inside the mouse hole and boards it up with a wooden plank. A short while later, George arrives as promised. He looks exactly like Tom, with the only difference being that he is perpetually trembling and full of anxiety. Before long, the completely unaware Jerry escapes. He sets his sights on the delicious food on the table, only to end up terrifying George. Thinking something is wrong with Tom, Jerry uses every trick to scare the poor cat, never suspecting that he has mistaken the fierce Tom for the timid George...
