This film tells the story of the Spring and Autumn period, when the Jin general Tu'an Gu plotted against the loyal minister Zhao Dun, ruthlessly slaughtering over 300 members of the Zhao family. Only Zhao Dun's infant grandson, still in swaddling clothes, was rescued by Cheng Ying. Upon discovering that someone had secretly saved the orphan, Tu'an Gu ordered the massacre of all infants in the country aged between one month and six months. To protect the orphan and the nation's children, Cheng Ying courageously offered his own son as a substitute for the orphan. In the end, the elder minister Gongsun Chujiu and Cheng Ying's son were killed, allowing the Zhao orphan to survive. Cheng Ying hid with the orphan in the Cang Mountains for 15 years.
