The story takes place in an unknown land, inhabited by creatures known as Tien. One day, a Tien named A-Shi is born. Immediately after birth, he becomes captivated by the sun in the sky. However, while chasing the sun, he soon discovers that upon taking his tenth step, he will die and transform into a flower, forever unable to move.
