This film tells the story of the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan and King Huai of Chu, Xiong Huai, were childhood friends. In his youth, at the king's invitation, he went to the capital Ying to serve as the Left Minister. After facilitating the alliance of the six states, Qu Yuan was framed by Zhang Yi and the Chu nobility and was exiled from Ying. While in Miluo, he wrote many renowned works of Chu Ci poetry. Later, when the Qin army captured Ying, Qu Yuan, filled with fervent patriotism for Chu, threw himself into the Miluo River.
