Ten-year-old Lucas is going through the "worst" time of his life. He just moved to an unfamiliar new home, hasn't made a single friend at school, is constantly teased by his older sister Tiffany at home, and his parents are so busy planning their anniversary trip that they completely ignore him. Even his usually supportive grandmother is preoccupied with worrying about the alien invasion mentioned in a gossip magazine. To make matters worse, he has become the target of the neighborhood bully, Steve! Powerless to fight back, Lucas vents all his anger on the anthill in his backyard. Using a water gun, he creates a great flood in the ant kingdom, instantly destroying the ants' home. What Lucas doesn't know is that the "stupid little ants" he sees actually possess a complete and well-organized kingdom. After deliberation and judgment, the furious ants decide to teach Lucas a lesson. The wizard ant Zoc uses a magical potion he developed to shrink Lucas down to the size of an ant and brings him to the ant kingdom. In the kingdom, the boy, sentenced to hard labor, must learn how to survive in the insect world. As he gradually becomes friends with the ants, he ultimately comes to understand the meaning of life and decides to lend a helping hand to the insect world, which is now in crisis.
