From October 14, 1991, to September 21, 1992, it aired every Monday from 19:00 to 19:30 on TV Tokyo. A total of 47 episodes. Hong Kong's Asia Television also broadcast the anime on its Home Channel in 1991. While adding some original short stories in supplementary settings, the series primarily follows the storyline serialized in "Happy Happy Monthly." Additionally, after the Black Armor arc (Regional Tournament arc), the "Flame Ball Chapter" was published in "Bessatsu Happy Happy," focusing on the process of learning the ultimate technique, Flame Ball. After the regional tournament finals, as the anime caught up with the original manga's content, the latter half underwent significant changes. Furthermore, the teams participating in the national tournament in the anime version are completely different from those appearing in the original manga's national tournament arc. Finally, the anime's story concludes before the national tournament. Due to some sensitive content in the original work, certain scenes were either removed or altered. Additionally, scenes featuring dialogue between the protagonist Danpei and Jenen were added, and in cases where original lines appeared, the characters delivering them in the anime sometimes differed from the original. After the broadcast ended, Bandai Visual released the TV anime content on VHS tapes sequentially in 1993. It was later re-broadcast on other television stations, including NHK Satellite Channel 2's "Satellite Anime Theater" in 1995. In November 2007, a summarized version was broadcast as part of the "Happy Happy 30th Anniversary Commemoration: Legendary Anime Selection" segment within the "Good Morning Studio" program. It was re-broadcast again on TOKYO MX in 2008. It has not yet been released on DVD. The setting for the anime's story is Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
