The impoverished scholar Little Poha sets off for the capital to take the imperial examination. Along the way, he encounters a "fierce female warrior," a wandering swindler, a cold-blooded assassin, and others, leading to a series of hilarious and absurd misadventures. Despite the dangers, he miraculously passes the exam and becomes the top scholar. Later, with his extraordinary skills, Little Poha gathers a band of followers and heads to the ancient city of Luoyang, where he unravels a "colossal" and bizarre case.
