If your eyes could pierce through the illusion of the imagery and gaze directly into our hearts, if your heart could escape the noise, even for just a second! Then you would discover what lies hidden behind "Shine"—the pain of adults, a cry that goes unheard, the loneliness of being unacknowledged, the endurance of being misunderstood, the evasion with no way out, and the desperation of having nowhere to flee. Sometimes I truly wish to escape this place, even if all that lies before me is the vastness of the night... "Shine," to put it humorously, is like—Earth is too dangerous, Mars is too far, so we build high walls to enclose our own utopia. On a deeper level, some of us are like the wolf-dog in the story—"naive and simple," mainly reflected in our inability to grasp many of society's "rules," living in our own little worlds. Little Red Riding Hood is a symbol—what we love and pursue is, in essence, pure and noble. The wolf-dog that breaks the "rules" should have long been "eliminated" by society, but it is saved instead. The "simple" wolf-dog follows eagerly day after day, but it doesn’t understand human emotions, nor does it know what Little Red Riding Hood wants (perhaps she herself doesn’t know either). Anyone with eyes can see that these two are definitely not meant to be, but the wolf-dog persists regardless, undeterred. After its gifts are rejected, it decides to bare its heart. Unbeknownst to it, its love becomes a noose around Little Red Riding Hood’s neck, leading to the demise of its goddess on the branch of public opinion (cherish life, stay away from stalkers). The wolf-dog that steals chickens, flowers, and necklaces from "adults" (note: people with power and influence) isn’t detestable. After being instilled with proper social awareness and undergoing "moral education," it’s believed it could become a fine youth. What truly disgusts and repulses people are those who are hypocritical, two-faced, and wear a human mask over a dog’s heart. The wolf-dog decisively uses the UFO superweapon to carry out "canine annihilation," which is immensely satisfying! Even this old monk feels a blazing fire ignite within, shouting with exhilaration. It pours out all the unheard cries, the unacknowledged loneliness, the misunderstood endurance, and the evasion with no way out, leaving behind only a vague, ambiguous smile like Director Kim’s!
