Having attained immortal golden bodies, the master and his four disciples bid farewell to Emperor Tang and arrived in the Heavenly Court. Bored out of their minds day after day, they found nothing to do except bully Sha Seng. Finally unable to bear it any longer, Tang Seng sought out the Jade Emperor to request a proper job. Thus, the Jade Emperor assigned Tang Seng the task of organizing the Heavenly Court’s archives—a job no one else wanted. Once he got the job, Tang Seng began to regret it, finding the work both tedious and monotonous, so he dragged his disciples into helping him complete it. Unexpectedly, the Heavenly Court’s archives were “immersive”—each administrator could enter into the past lives of the individuals recorded, but only one segment of that person’s life could be experienced. Driven by curiosity, the master and his disciples thus embarked on a new journey.
