Long, long ago, the Bao'an people living along the Yellow River suffered under the tyranny of the Sand Demon King. The demon king drove away the kind-hearted people, turning the fertile land into barren yellow sand. At the critical moment, a brave old man used a magical waist knife to blind the demon king's right eye, temporarily frightening off the vile creature. A hundred years later, the Bao'an people migrated to Jinshi Mountain in Gansu, but a shortage of water threatened their survival. Duowa, the old man's grandson, volunteered to travel to the source of the Yellow River to seek help from the White Divine Horse. The White Divine Horse agreed to Duowa's request, bringing clear spring water to Jinshi Mountain. However, this scene was witnessed by the demon king's minion—the owl Chijiaozi—who awakened the slumbering demon king, intent on bringing disaster upon the Bao'an people once again... This film is adapted from Bao'an folklore.
