In a village during the campaign to eliminate sparrows, six sparrows managed to slip through the net and escape to the outskirts. The task of capturing these sparrows was assigned to the Young Pioneers' Iron Ox Squad. Squad leader Iron Ox and his teammates—Hu Zi, Yi Cuo Mao, Xiao Pang, and Xiao Ling—tried various methods and put in a great deal of effort, but they still couldn’t catch the sparrows. Later, in the woods, they noticed that the sparrows weren’t afraid of an old man collecting manure. According to the old man, because he was too old to harm the sparrows, they had no fear of him. This gave Iron Ox and his team an idea. They all disguised themselves as elderly men and positioned themselves in the east, west, south, and north sides of the village to trick the sparrows. The sparrows indeed fell for the ruse—they flew down without worry to eat the grain on the ground, only to be captured entirely by Iron Ox’s squad.
