The oriole sang on a branch, and as soon as its song ended, applause followed. Delighted, it plucked a large red flower to thank the two little bears who had clapped for it—Xiao Hei and Xiao Zong. However, the two bears argued, each claiming to have been the first to applaud. With only one red flower, the oriole didn’t know whom to give it to. Just then, an elephant, a deer, a woodpecker, a squirrel, and a monkey, who were busy building a bridge, urgently needed a piece of timber. Upon learning this, the oriole suggested: whoever could bring a piece of timber would receive the large red flower. Xiao Hei and Xiao Zong found a piece of timber together, but they argued again, each saying, "I found it." However, the timber was too heavy for either of them to lift alone. As they fought over it, the timber rolled down a slope into the river, carrying them along with the current until they were swept to the edge of a waterfall. Fortunately, they were blocked by a large reef. In this critical moment, the elephant, deer, monkey, and others who were building the bridge risked danger to rescue them. This experience taught Xiao Hei and Xiao Zong a lesson: they realized that nothing can be accomplished by one person alone, and the large red flower should belong to everyone.
