Mongolian teenager Hailibu rescues an adorable little squirrel from the jaws of a fox while out hunting. Later, the little squirrel leads him to a secluded and mysterious place. It turns out the little squirrel is the daughter of the mountain god. To thank the brave and kind-hearted Hailibu, the mountain god offers him two priceless treasures, but Hailibu refuses both. Knowing the boy's heart, the mountain god's daughter gives him a fruit; after eating it, he gains the ability to understand the language of animals. However, he must never reveal what he hears to others, or he will face severe punishment. Overjoyed, Hailibu communicates with animals every day, using this ability to help many creatures and people, which fills him with great pride.
