This short film won several domestic awards in Japan in 1967, but I feel that in terms of imagination, it falls short compared to the previous few works. In terms of form, it is likely an imitation of Disney's "Fantasia," featuring a live orchestra performing Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition." The stories then extend from the portraits at the exhibition, depicting various types of people: sensationalist journalists, perfectionist artificial landscapers, plastic surgeons, the Beat Generation, arrogant boxing champions, and major factory owners. Some of these stories employ exaggerated, militaristic techniques, conveying a sense of mechanization that shares similarities with Chaplin's performances, reminding me of certain Soviet animated works (I hope to discuss those animations in the future when time permits).
