On a bright and sunny day, a woman dressed in gaudy and tacky clothes walks down the street. Her husband is a hardworking and exhausted office worker, and with his birthday approaching, the woman decides to carefully select a gift for her beloved other half. She passes by a golf specialty store and an electronics shop, but it seems her husband has no hobbies whatsoever, so she doesn’t stop at either. Just then, the woman spots a pet store and, delighted, walks inside. The enthusiastic shopkeeper recommends cute puppies, lazy kittens, and mischievous monkeys to the customer, but none of them satisfy her. Suddenly, she notices a bird on the shelf behind the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper tells her it’s called the Crunch Bird, a creature with sharp teeth that can devour any object its owner points out. Little did she know, the woman is utterly delighted by this… This film won the 44th Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
