This animated short won the 1943 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film and was ranked 87th in the "Century of Animation • 100 Works" list at the 2006 Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France. Donald Duck has a nightmare in which he becomes a slave under Nazi rule. Every day, he not only has to work tirelessly from dawn to dusk but also must constantly obey various slogans and repeatedly salute the ubiquitous photos of Hitler. However, his treatment is as poor as it can get—while working, he is frequently beaten and kicked by the overseer, and the bread he eats is so dry it's nearly inedible. One day, while processing bullets of various sizes on an assembly line, he gradually descends into madness and finally snaps.
